Purpose of the additional inputs module

The inputs module allows for connection of 3 additional sensors: LAB-EL measuring instruments with S300 digital interface, temperature sensors (T and N thermistors), normally open sensors or sensors with analog output (0..10 V, 4..20 mA).

The module may be installed as an internal insert in data recorders:

  • LB-480 – data recorder.
  • LB-490 – data recorder / weather station.

S300 digital inputs of the additional inputs module

It is possible to connect any sensors with S300 interface to the recorder. S300 is a current loop digital interface that ensures two-wire connection of the sensor, allowing for maintaining a significant distance between the sensor and the recorder, which at the same time supplies power from the recorder to the sensor and transfers digital data from the sensor to the recorder.

In particular, LAB-EL measuring instruments with a digital interface operating as per S300 standard are supported, such as:

  • LB-710 – a thermo-hygrometer,
or another device that sends data in a format accordant with LB-710:
    • LB-474C – a temperature and humidity controller,
    • LB-522 – a thermo-hygrometer,
    • LB-705 – a panel thermo-hygrometer,
    • LB-720/722 – a driers controller,
    • LB-720C/722C – a climate regulator,
    • LB-725 – a panel thermo-hygrometer,
  • LB-710T – a thermometer,
  • LB-710E – a thermometer with an extended range,
  • LB-710A – a thermometer with a display,
  • LB-710AT – a thermometer with a display,
  • LB-711 – an 8-channel thermometer,
  • LB-714 – a 2-channel thermometer,
  • LB-715 – a thermometer-hygrometer-barometer,
  • LB-716 – a barometer,
  • LB-716P – an absolute pressure gauge,
  • LB-716D – a differential pressure gauge,
  • LB-746 – a speed and wind direction meter,
  • LB-747 – a speed and wind direction meter,
  • LB-750 – a laboratory barometer,
  • LB-781 – an integrated road sensor,
  • LB-797 – a solids hygrometer,
  • LB-801 – a thermo-anemometer,
  • LB-850 – a CO2 concentration and temperature meter,
  • LB-854 – a CO2 concentration and temperature meter,
  • LB-900 – a solar radiation meter,
  • LB-901 – a 2-channel solar radiation meter,
  • LB-905 – an oxygen and other gases concentration meter,
  • LB-910 – a surface humidity meter / a flood sensor,
  • LB-920 – a soil humidity meter,
  • LB-921 – an universal A/C converter.

Analog inputs of the additional inputs module

The analog inputs measuring transmitter operates in 10-bites resolution. Analog inputs may be configured to operate in the following modes.

Thermistor thermometer

An input operating in this mode allows for measurement of temperature using an external thermistor probe within range of -50..+150°C. A dedicated probe with a special thermistor ensures accuracy of 0.5°C within temperature range of 0..+50°C.

A thermistor probe is an optimal and economic solution for temperature measurement in the majority of cases. However, if precise temperature measurement is required, in a wider range and with a greater accuracy, within a considerable distance or with a calibration certificate, use a temperature sensor with an external converter and S300 interface (e.g. LB-710TX) or use LB-499-PT insert (precise thermometer -200...+850°C with resolution up to 0.001°C).

0-10 V

A voltage analog input allows for measurement of voltage within range of 0..10 V.

0-20 mA

A current analog input allows for measurement of current within range of 0..20 mA.

Binary

A binary input allows for detection of a closed/open state. It may be controlled by a normally open contact or a digital output of OC type.

Switch

A switch input allows for detection of a closed/open state of a switch. Moreover, also a sabotage of the line leading to the switch is detected – a short-circuit or interruption of the line triggers an alarm.

The number of additional inputs modules in devices

LB-480 recorder allows for installation of 3 such modules, thus providing for connection of 9 additional S300 sensors, additionally to 8 standard inputs of LB-480 recorder itself.

LB-490 recorder (weather station) allows for installation of 6 such modules, thus providing for connection of 18 additional S300 sensors, additionally to 16 standard inputs of LB-490 recorder itself.
